Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Our client, a well-respected regional law firm, is seeking an experienced Prison Law Supervisor and Practitioner to lead and develop their growing Prison Law Department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified legal professional with supervisor status (or equivalent experience) to take on a leadership position within a firm known for its commitment to client care and access to justice.

You will oversee the department’s work, represent clients in a range of prison law matters, and collaborate closely with the firm’s established Criminal Law Team. For the right candidate, this role offers genuine potential to progress to Head of Department.


The Role

  • Represent clients in a variety of prison law matters, ensuring a high standard of legal advice and representation.

  • Provide supervision and leadership within the Prison Law Department.

  • Work collaboratively with the firm’s Criminal Law Team to ensure effective cross-departmental support.

  • Maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics, and compliance.

  • Manage workloads efficiently and contribute to departmental growth and development.

The Person

  • Proven experience in prison law.

  • Supervisor status or sufficient experience to qualify.

  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases.

  • Competent IT skills and confidence working with case management systems.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
