The Role

Our client is a niche firm specialising in the defence of serious crime. They are frequently instructed to represent and defend in extremely serious cases. They are fortunate to benefit from a solid team of talent comprising some of the best Solicitors and Barristers who are eminent within their profession. They are continually expanding and are now seeking to develop that team further by the addition of a Crime Caseworker to assist and support that team.  The successful candidate shall be expected to manage a heavy caseload comprising of cases at the police station, magistrates court and very serious offences before the crown court. The successful candidate will also be expected to be proactive. The role shall require Court attendance as well as meticulous case preparation. This is an extremely challenging and demanding but rewarding role.

The Person

The successful candidate must have completed the BPTC or LPC. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong interest in criminal law, good commercial awareness, exceptional people and interpersonal skills and have excellent communication skills. Furthermore, the suitable applicant must be able to work independently, use their own common sense / initiative to find solutions to and resolve problems by being proactive.
The successful candidate must be a robust individual with a strong work ethic, the ability to work under pressure adhering to strict deadlines and possess excellent time management and organisational skills.
The nature of criminal defence requires considerable mental dexterity. It regularly involves working unsociable hours: evening and weekends and balancing competing demands. Accordingly, this role requires an individual who is entirely committed and dedicated to criminal defence, takes pride in their work and is passionate about what they do and the results that they achieve.
